Strive for a relationship with Him

I can’t read a movie review and get the same experience as seeing the movie myself. And I can’t truly understand someplace on the globe by pouring over a travel brochure. I must go to the place and enjoy it firsthand.

There is a big difference between knowing about God and truly knowing Him personally and directly. It’s like knowing the president of my country but not really knowing him personally. However, if I make a relationship with him, it will help me to be close to him and really get to know him. The same with God, being one of His children, I want to take advantage of that relationship to really get to know Him. I want to take time to be still in His presence, and ask Him to fill my head and heart with His love and wisdom.

Books, sermons, and music can all help me experience God’s presence, but they should only be pathways to God, not destinations unto themselves.

Our relationship with God is one thing that we should take personally.
